Anxiety of the Dentist?
Posted March 01, 2021.
Every person in the world suffers from some sort of fear, but did you know, approximately 60% of the U.S. population suffers from a form of anxiety, fear, or phobia toward dental procedures? This is truly an unbelievable amount!
Furthermore, these anxious and fearful behaviors will often lead to an avoidance of care, which will more than likely result in compromised dental health! Due to their fears, as many as 7% of the population rarely, or never, visits a dentist!
When you begin to avoid your dental care, it will ultimately cause you to have poor oral health, and this can also potentially create advanced disease states, such as: cardiovascular disease, dementia, diabetes, kidney disease, and even cancer. This is just a small example of the more common health problems that have been directly associated with poor oral health!
Howard Berg, a professional and record holding speed reader and teacher, once stated that learning can be defined as:
To understand the meaning and the significance of something.
