Winter Hasn’t Even Begun Yet!
Posted November 12, 2019.
I took this photo from an airplane, at around 5:30 am on October 25th on my flight to Denver for a Small Business conference. When I landed in Colorado, everyone was talking about the early snow this year and the predicted 15 inches of snow to fall later that weekend - one of the earliest in years according to the people I spoke with in the area.
It’s funny how we talk about how hot it is in the summer, and as soon as it’s gone we talk about how cold the winter is, or how miserable the snow is. It must mean we need the variety to keep it interesting!
It’s pretty amazing to live in the Rocky Mountains. I distinctly remember seeing the horizon in western Colorado while we were driving our rental truck, moving back from Virginia to Utah after I finished dental school. My dad and I took a scenic route across the country and stopped at a couple baseball games. The first in Kansas City, and the second in Denver. We had our old Subaru hitched to the back of the Uhaul, and as we pushed up the hill west of Denver, we were going about 8 miles per hour due to the heavy load, for what seemed like hours. But the view was beautiful and it made me remember how much I loved the west after living away for four years. Plus it was a great opportunity to see areas of the country I’d never seen before, and to see more states in a few days than I had in nearly all my life.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. No strings attached and no frills. Just a cold turkey bowl in the morning and a big late lunch with friends and family. Who could ask for more.
We are extra thankful for your relationship this holiday season and hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
