Finding Luck in Dental Health

March is one of my favorite months of the year. Growing up March meant spring was right around the corner the daylight was getting longer, and a weekly long spring break from school to enjoy the outdoors.

It’s the time of year in Utah or we ride our bike, ski or snowboard, or golf all in the same day.

As we gear up to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and prepare for the day of “green,” it’s a perfect time to reflect on how lucky we are to have modern technology for our health and our smile.

St. Patrick’s Day, beyond its festive parades and traditional Irish fare, holds a rich history rooted in the life of St. Patrick himself, and his story offers insights into resilience, transformation, and, indeed, luck.

St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is celebrated for bringing Christianity to the Emerald Isle and for his legendary acts, including driving snakes out of Ireland and using the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity. His life was marked by challenges, from being kidnapped and enslaved to finding his faith in adversity. Yet, through his determination and belief, he overcame obstacles, leaving an indelible mark on history.

Many of us face challenges and setbacks on the path to optimal dental health. Whether it’s overcoming dental anxiety, managing oral health conditions, or simply staying committed to regular dental care, each step requires resilience and belief in a brighter, healthier future.

We consider ourselves fortunate to be part of your dental health community. Each of our patients brings a unique story, a journey marked by ups and downs, victories and setbacks. Yet, through it all, you continue to prioritize your oral health, recognizing its significance in your overall well-being.

Your commitment to dental health sustains you through the challenges you may face. It’s not always easy to maintain a routine of brushing, flossing, and attending dental appointments, but by doing so, you invest in your confidence and your future.

Moreover, the concept of luck is intertwined with our dental health journey in more ways than one. We often speak of being lucky to have good oral health, but luck is not merely a matter of chance. It is cultivated through consistent care, education, and proactive measures to prevent health issues before they arise.

As your community Smile resource, we strive to empower you with the knowledge and tools needed to enhance your dental, sleep and physical health and, by extension, your overall quality of life.

Through regular maintenance, preventive screenings, and personalized treatment plans, we work alongside you to create a foundation for lasting oral health, reducing the need for “luck” to intervene.

On this St. Patrick’s Day, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to each of you for entrusting us with your dental care. Your commitment inspires our team and other patients and guests.

I hope this month is not just full of festive revelry for you, but also with a renewed sense of gratitude for our advances in health and technology, including the gift of a brighter smile today and tomorrow.

Wishing you a happy St. Patrick’s Day filled with joy, laughter, and the luck of the Irish!

Have a great week!
